Garland "Daniel" Thomas
I can only begin by saying a simple "thank you." Thank you for giving someone this opportunity. As I think of why I would like to have another opportunity to complete a business degree, the only response I can give is to be a better provider for my family.
I began my college day's fresh out of high school but got distracted and followed another opportunity. I tried again but then made the decision to put college on hold in order to save up money to marry my wife. I figured that once my wife, Tia, completed college, I would attend and complete my degree. She finished and I returned for two more semesters until discovering we were expecting our first child. Once again I placed my attempt to complete college on hold to save for our expected blessing.
Now, several years later, I am blessed with two beautiful gifts from God and a wonderful wife who does wonders in raising them. We felt led to allow her to come home from work to raise our children although it cut our income in half. Now by choice, we are a single income family and find it difficult to afford college. As I sit back and recall these events in life that has led to me not completing college at this point, I do not regret any of them.
In addition to working 45-60 hours a week, God has also allowed me the privilege of pastoring a small congregation in our local community. Upon completing a degree, I would seek to be obedient to God and be the best steward possible of what He has given me. I believe that we should give and share what has been given to us.
As strapped for time as it may already appear that I am, I believe with the support of my family and commitment to following through, I can successfully complete this program. Upon completing a B.B.A degree, I would seek to best utilize that opportunity to open up doors that may enable me to better serve my family and local congregation while allowing to pass through me what God has given to me. I would love for this opportunity and thank you again for providing it.
