WCQR is launching a year-long Project 52 Food Drive to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee in 2009.
.
Look for Project 52 Food Drives at WCQR events all year long. The goal is to help replenish the shelves at Second Harvest, especially at a time when more people than ever are coming to them for food and help. We will collect non-perishable food items and at times other specific items to help our neighbors in need.
The permanent drop off locations are:
WCQR Studios, 2312 Oak Street, Gray Tennessee
Summit Leadership, 3104 Hanover Road, Johnson City
Powers Coffee Express and Cafe, 5049 Bobby Hicks Highway, Gray
Powers Coffee Express and Cafe, 304 Legacy Drive, Elizabethton
Salsarita's Fresh Mexican, 2003 North Eastman Road, Kingsport
Here are some upcoming drop off locations:
November 14th - Vender Christmas Fair at Quality Inn, Kingsport 11a-5pm
November 22nd - Mercy Me Concert at Freedom Hall, Johnson City
December 5th - WCQR Fun Day with John Waller at ETSU Mini Dome
The significance of the numbers 5 and 2 are: 52 weeks make a year, this drive will last all of 2009. Also Matthew 14:13-21 talks of Jesus feeding over 5,000 people with 5 loaves and 2 fishes. We believe that God can take what we have and multiply it to feed thousands of people in 2009 in the Tri-Cities and beyond!
Items we will be collecting include:
Cereal/Rice/Dried Beans
Canned Tuna Fish/Meat
Canned Soups
Spaghetti Sauce/Pasta/Noodles
Peanut Butter
Canned Tomatoes/Veggies/Fruit
Mac & Cheese
